Wondercon!
I’m a Special Guest at WonderCon this weekend in Anaheim! My schedule is below; in particular, I’m excited about my presentation on Saturday at 11:30: “The Empire of a Wicked Woman” tackles comics, Catwoman, some powerful women in history, and the occasional cat-shaped car. See you there!

Find out with WonderCon Anaheim special guests Michael Cho (Shoplifter), Chad Hardin (Harley Quinn), Chris Roberson (iZombie), Genevieve Valentine (Catwoman), and moderator Mark Waid (Archie) as they seek the balance that keeps readers rooting for and against their favorite comic characters.

SATURDAY, APRIL 1
Comics Arts Conference #5: Focus on Genevieve Valentine
CAC special guest Genevieve Valentine (Catwoman), author of the novels Mecahnique: A Tale of the Circus Tresaulti and Persona, writer of Batman and Robin Eternal and Xena, and winner of the Crawford Award, presents a talk: “‘The Empire of a Wicked Woman’: Catwoman, Comics, and the History of Power.” Catwoman has been a lot of things in the last 75 years: thief, hero, crime lord, community advocate. But Selina Kyle isn’t just Gotham’s first moral gray area; she’s part of a long tradition of women in power, both on the page and off-and there are some surprising parallels in how their stories are told. Valentine explores some elements of those narratives amid Catwoman’s various incarnations, parallels, triumphs, and absences.
11:30am – 12:30pm, Room 210
Facing the Future: Tomorrow and Today
Speculative fiction authors discuss creating visions of the near and distant future that reflect and guide our present. With modern prognosticators Connie Willis (Crosstalk), Elizabeth Briggs (Future Threat), Leah Thomas (Nowhere Near You), Daniel Sweren-Becker (The Ones), James Morris (The Three Kingdoms Trilogy), and Genevieve Valentine (Icon).
